So, why wouldn't those items be removed from the menu? It was a very disappointing experience.Unforgettable Food, History, and Culture Tour of San Juan! There were a couple of items on the menu that were unavailable and we were told that those items are not offered any longer. What happened to that beautiful room? A portion was partitioned off with an ugly curtain, which made us feel like we were in a construction zone. We went to the Oak Room for dinner, where we have dined a few times in the past, again pre-Covid, and had an excellent experience. At least twice I stopped at the Front Desk to request a late check out and the Front Desk personnel were unable and unwilling to help. It was a bit chilly in the room at night and the bed did not have a blanket, nor was there one in the closet. We were on a low floor, in an interior dark and depressing room with a "view" of nothing. For the rate we paid, we should have at least been assigned a room with natural light. The day after our check-in I received an email letting us know that our room was ready, not very efficient. I also received an email to check in online, which I did. We were not extended the upgrade, nor was there mention of it during our check-in. I received an email prior to our stay which offered a discounted room upgrade. It was evident to us that the new ownership does not value patrons and the staff is not "taught" to extend basic hospitality. We have stayed at the Boston Copley Plaza in the past, pre Covid, and the hospitality was impeccable. I worked for the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco and the Swig family for over 35 years and the level of hospitality that was extended under their ownership far surpassed what we experienced during our recent stay. That being said, we were very disappointed with our recent stay. The doormen and bell desk personnel were very helpful and hospitable. The hotel is well located but we were very disappointed with our stay and the level of hospitality extended.
